This area of our business continues to expand, and we continue to attempt to match each customer to a program that best fits the needs of their year. The dry summer of 2011 left many lawns with large dead patches or thin areas along curbs or driveways. We did some seeding and over seeding in the fall, but due to dry conditions, many lawns may need more over seeding and aeration to restore a healthy, uniform sod. We also continued to see many occurrences of crabgrass or water grass on untreated yards. We continue to stress the use of early season crabgrass prevention to control water grass and crabgrass and have continued to increase the amount of chemical applied to offset the chance of heavy rains. Please try to schedule the crabgrass application by April 15 to get this unsightly plant before it can germinate in your yard. My goal with this part of our business is to provide the best possible service and results for the least cost to the customer. I would like to consult personally again this year with as many customers as possible to provide the beast program for your property. Please make a note on your response if you would like me to contact you concerning your lawn in 2012. Below is a list of standard application we offer and what you can expect from each one on your yard.
1. Crabgrass preventer with or without fertilizer
This will prevent breakthrough of crabgrass and many other wide blade annual grasses. Applied early to mid-April as a granular product, this application keeps your yard free of summer weeds and water grass throughout the season.
2. Spring Weed Control with or without Fertilizer
This kills a variety of broad leaf weeds including dandelions, violets and “creeping charley”. Applied in early May to early June.
3. Summer Fertilizer with or without Grub Prevention
This is a slow release fertilizer to see your yard through the summer heat. Applied from June 25th through July 15th, or by July 10th if grub prevention is desired.
4. Fall Weed Control with or without Fertilizer
Our most popular application, as it is the best for controlling hard to kill weeds. Applied September 1st through October 10th.
5. Sterilants, Round-up, Tree and Shrub Treatment
We offer applications throughout the year to control weed and grass breakthrough on parking lots and driveways.
